Can you help me? BTW, your mini videos “90 Sec to Success” are exceptional. Is there a way to hear you for longer maxi inspirational lectures? Zoe November 11, 2010 Am determined to finally have WLS. I started the journey with the Lap Band as my “surgery of choice”. However, due to type II diabetes my bariatric surgeon strongly reccommends the RNY bypass, as well as now 2 other doctors I am working with. This floors me. I didn’t consider myself “that bad off”. It has forced me to face my own mortality. Yet I don’t want to act unwisely. I would like to hear from anyone who has had either surgery & get thier views on the choices. Thanks so much ahead of time for your responses. Susan November 22, 2010 The fact that you have diabetes is probably why they are recommending the RNY since diabetes is gone in 90% of people within the first year of having the surgery. It has something to do with the absorbtion. Since the band is only restrictive not malabsorptive it doesnt have the same effect on diabetes.
