Sorry you are in the hospital getting poked and prodded that’s not fun. Seriously I hope they finally give you the answers you deserve. Can’t wait for the next show in two weeks. I’ll be front row with my WLS friendly popcorn and drink. ((HUGS)) ~Cher~ Amy Otto February 10, 2009 MM… you are the best! Thanks for the tip on the Celebrate Calcium… I need a change. You are so vivid and entertaining… I just loved this segment. I sure hope there will be many more to come! Angel February 11, 2009 Is it just me or does MM give the vibe of “think twice before having the surgery?” I also watched some of her YouTube videos & they have the same negative feel to them. Maybe I just don’t appreciate a sarcastic wit/sense of humor or a brutally honest person who didn’t have all great experiences with her health post op. I am truely sorry for that & do wish her well! I am a pre op( March 09) & it just upset me to hear all she said in the beginning of the video. I do understand all the “bad things” like nausea, dumping, extra skin, possible hair loss, etc that can happen to me post op…but felt even more stressed & over whelmed after watching the video! I just feel these things will still be better & easier to deal with than living my life morbidly obese & having to deal with the stigma/challenges it brings!! Sorry, but I’m looking for positive things & people in my life & this just brought me down. Not sure I’ll watch again:( I did like the effects in the video though & liked the advice/suggestions given about the vitamins; & MM–I wish you much success on your show:) Jane Ortiz February 11, 2009 omg beth!!! you totally rocked! hugs, jane mm February 11, 2009 Thanks all – I know how hard these guys worked on the segments – I can’t thank them enough. ๐ ๐ mm February 11, 2009 Angel – One of the things as post ops some of us wish we had – was information – I wish I had known about ‘dumping’ (just an example, it could be anything) – you know? You hear about it, as a possibility, sure, some people never even experience it – and some – have it every day. Life as a post op is not sunshine and butterflies… even with a perfect weight loss and recovery. It’s the same life you had, just harder. ๐ mm February 11, 2009 HOLD TIGHT Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mary February 11, 2009 Congrat on an EXCELLENT segment!!!! I enjoyed every minute of it. You have 2 choices either take the info and LEARN or give in to your fears. There I said it my 2 cents for the day…. Shawna February 11, 2009 HEY MM! AWESOME job. You rocked it out just like I thought you would. I will b a loyal watcher now. I am sorry I missed it last night though. I just finished watching. (had to go to work) Congratulations! Keep the info coming, I seem to have similar tastebuds and its kinda cool having a taste tester!! Tom February 11, 2009 WTG Beth. I really enjoyed your humor and the editing! Yvonne McCarthy February 11, 2009 Angel, I just wanted to say this whole world of pre and post-ops is made up of many flavors. I think you can find a little of everything at the WLS Channel and I was very fortunate that I had no health problems and never really saw any “bad” with my surgery. Beth has a unique funny personality and just like there are different types of personalities, there are different experiences. I consider my weight loss surgery a miracle and it gave me a second chance in life that I could have never imagined. Good luck in March (that’s my surgiversary month) and congratulations on your upcoming journey. Marcy van der Linden February 11, 2009 MM love the show! You tell it like it is. I love bluntness! Cathie February 11, 2009 Angel, I do understand your distress at what you perceive as “negative vibes” but, to be honest, I would hope that anyone would THINK TWICE – or a dozen times – before having such a serious life-altering surgery. It does change your life in ways you cannot even imagine now. While everyone’s experience will be a bit different, what MM has spoken about is pretty much UNIVERSAL – at least for the RNY’ers and other procedures like it. Instead of getting the “sugar-coated” version, I felt she was keeping it REAL for the very reason that folks need to know that they are not alone when they have these distressing issues crop up. doctorvuong February 11, 2009 Congrats on a great show! You have a new fan here in Houston! Stacey February 11, 2009 Congrats, I knew you could make lemonade out of lemons…I just knew it. I think you should wear a skirt next time! Just a suggestion. Nikki… you too. :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Barbara February 12, 2009 Beth, Awesome, my only issue was the volume, it kept going up and down……… You look fabulous, and you did a GREAT job. You are staying true to yourself. I am so thankful I have NEVER had dumping, and never want to have it. Congrats on the show! Barbara (imaswtgrl) mm February 12, 2009 Thanks Barbara! ๐ Not a one dumping?! NONE? (Every day dumper here.) Barb February 12, 2009 This forum for MM is much better than YT. I can’t watch her YT videos, too dramatic, heavy sighing, very Sarah Bernhardt. This is more palitable. When will she reveal she regrets having bypass?? Doug February 12, 2009 Hi Beth, Love the MM show! I am (hopefully) about two months pre-op and look forward to watching your show. I figure the more I learn now, the smoother my WLS journey will be. Keep up the good work! Doug in Minnesota mm February 12, 2009 Doug, Thank you! Read, read, and take in as much as possible. ๐ mm February 12, 2009 Barb- “What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now.” ~Author Unknown No time for regret. ๐ mm February 12, 2009 Although, I have to ask – SARAH or SANDRA? ๐ Darryl February 13, 2009 Technical comment: Was it just me, or did anyone else notice the video was vertically flipped, like watching a mirror image? I didn’t notice until Beth opened the calcium bottle in the wrong direction, then I could see the label well enough to tell it was backwards. Otherwise, I thought the video was very well done and informative. I am eager to see more. How often will they be produced? mm February 14, 2009 Darryl, I didn’t notice, however I had to watch it in pause/load/pause because my connection was bad. LOL. Lemme watch and see if I can tell. Thanks, BTW. Audrey February 19, 2009 Congrats MM. I think you have a perspective on WLS that not many people have and it definitely needs to be known. I have also watched you on YouTube so I know what your post op issues are…just wondering why you didn’t state them on this show? There’s no doubt about it…you were dealt a lousy hand. But I have to agree with Angel, sometimes I feel like you are shouting “DON’T DO IT”. People need to go into this surgery with their eyes wide open…there are some very serious risks, not the least of which is death! But, you have to admit, being super-morbidly obese is not a walk in the park either. I’m a couple months out with RNY and I’ve know I’ve been super lucky…no complications. But, it took me 8 years to get here. So, I think the message to everyone needs to be, research, research, research. Know what you are getting into. Talk with others who have had the surgery. Ask them what they wish they had known pre-op. They should not answer you with dumping, extra skin, hair loss. Anyone who did not know that, should not have had the surgery. I wish I had known how long it would take me to get 64 oz of fluid into me per day. Sounded very doable beforehand but in actuality, it is difficult. I wish you the best, MM, with your new show and in life. And to the WLS channel, if you are looking for more hosts, check out Amelia (Massage Goddess) and Alison Pacino on YouTube. They also have an excellent message to share! This channel is a great idea. Keep up the good work! mm February 20, 2009 Audrey, As far I know, my issues stem from improper vitamin supplementation and pregnancy without enough proper supplementation. I do not have a direct link or diagnosis to explain anything either so it’s not like I can say, “I took baby vitamins, so I got _______.” Watch my future episodes, we touch on these things, for example Vitamin B deficiencies, which can have very, very serious (as we know) implications. My personal message has always been, know what you’re getting to. It’s not always the easy way out. Niki February 22, 2009 I just happened to stumble across this site and found it great! I would like to 100% agree with Audrey. I researched gastric bypass for 5 years, I thought I had it down to the letter. Boy, was I WRONG! My surgery date was 1/20/09, and I am just now starting to feel like I have some control over my life again. It seemed easy to drink water until I actually had to do it post op. I have been back to the E.R. twice for dehydration and am just now starting to be able to keep solid food down. I am not yet able to drink the protien drinks (they make me sick) and it seems everything is either too sweet or too salty for me to keep down. Even the smell of some foods triggers vomiting. I am not saying that I regret having the surgery, I just wish I had known some of the horrible effects of post op. In a support group meeting one of the ladies said she was out of the hopital and at the mall three days post op… Now I would not want to call her a lier, but this is not typical. You will just want to keep yourself in the here and now, not in a fantasy, not typical world. I wanted to die the first two weeks post op. Just remember…this too shall pass, and you will eventially reach the top of the summit and will see the other side. Best wishes to anyone who is pre-op and congradulations to everyone who has made it to post-op. Niki mm February 23, 2009 Niki. I went back to the hospital a few days after my roux en y, too. I could NOT get enough liquids down, and for some reason I had a ton of pain, I thought something was wrong. We went up to the ER, and turns out I just needed a couple bags of fluid, and I was “better.” Still in pain, but “better.” Then again, I left the hospital initially after my surgery with not having had ANY liquids. The tray would arrive with bouillon and water, I could NOT get it down. I tried, and they did not force the issue. I figured I would get it when I got home. Not so. Maybe painkillers were necessary? I did not take any – I took Tylenol. HA. mm February 23, 2009 …miraculously, it ended quickly, and I was feeling good. Good enough to see my spouse through his surgery five weeks after me. I had to heal. Coach Jeff Cadwell February 24, 2009 Congratulations! I know this is going to be treat for every one who sees it! beth February 25, 2009 Thanks, Jeff. ๐ Charl'e March 11, 2009 Beth, This episode was awesome! I wish it would have been around before I had my surgery. I love how you tell it like it is. It’s not all sunshine and roses but it is worth everything you go through. I look forward to your next episode. Norma Cervantes March 11, 2009 I have seen other weight loss channels. They are fine and usefull. People talk about thier experiences and support others. Thats fine. Yours has a bright spot in that you are so positively inspirational. You are honest, say the truth as you see it and it is all legitimatly truthful. love the way you tell the truth in a humorous and creative way. I also enjoy your segment on product review. I think that it is important to know about these products. For me how else would I find out about them? I want to make good choices for myself. My life, family and health, were the reasons why I chose to do this surgery (RNY) and now there is no turning back. Everyday is a challenge for me. I have dumped twice. The first time I thought I would die. I got over it but I was scared to eat for a few days. Now I know that it might happen so I’m very careful. I know there is always a chance that I will feel that way again. I think that is my biggest fear. Thanks for making me feel better about the fear, I mean. I really am looking forward to your videos. I’m always looking for new products to try., to change and have variety.Maybe a new flavor of protien powder for yeepee drinks.LOL.Thank you for being trully ispirational and supporting to so many. Beth June 5, 2009 Thank you for these comments, I totally missed them the first time around. I appreciate it. ๐ ๐

mm February 23, 2009 …miraculously, it ended quickly, and I was feeling good. Good enough to see my spouse through his surgery five weeks after me. I had to heal.
Coach Jeff Cadwell February 24, 2009 Congratulations! I know this is going to be treat for every one who sees it!
Charl'e March 11, 2009 Beth, This episode was awesome!
