Bariatric Advantage Signs Sponsorship Agreement with

Leading bariatric-specific nutritional supplement manufacturer to be exclusive nutriceutical replacement sponsor of WLS News

bariatricadvantage_logo_smIRVINE, California (December 22, 2008) — Bariatric Advantage®, a Division of Catalina Lifesciences, Inc., headquartered in Irvine, California, has entered into an agreement with the Weight Loss Surgery Channel securing the right to be the exclusive nutriceutical replacement sponsor of WLS News for the first half of 2009.

WLS News is a weekly online newscast covering stories from the world of weight loss surgery, including new research findings about the outcomes of bariatric surgery, human interest stories, and special events for bariatric surgeons and members of the weight loss surgery community. The program’s viewership represents the ideal target market for Bariatric Advantage nutritional supplements, which are specifically formulated to meet the unique dietary needs of pre-operative bariatric surgical candidates and post-operative bariatric surgical patients.

“We are committed to bringing the highest caliber production quality and expert guidance to our viewers, and likewise committed to partnering with the highest caliber sponsors for our shows,” said Craig “Big-T” Thompson, founder and president of the Weight Loss Surgery Channel. “Bariatric Advantage was a natural fit, as they are a trusted name in the weight loss surgery community for quality nutritional supplements. We are delighted to welcome them as a sponsor for our weekly news report.”

Thompson, who had gastric bypass surgery in 1997, founded the Weight Loss Surgery Channel in fall 2008 to provide pre- and post-operative weight loss surgery patients and bariatricadvantage_bottlesthose close to them with information, guidance and support via online video to improve the chances for patients’ long-term well-being. When Thompson had his surgery, only about 10,000 bariatric procedures were performed annually in the United States, and follow-up support for patients was virtually non-existent. Today, more than 200,000 patients undergo weight loss surgery in the U.S. each year.

“Craig Thompson has done it once again — he is daring to think big with his plans for the Weight Loss Surgery Channel,” said Thomas L. Kinder, President and CEO of Catalina Lifesciences, Inc. “We are proud and excited that Craig has invited Bariatric Advantage, the market leader in WLS nutrition, to be an exclusive advertiser for WLS News to help bring this big idea to the weight loss surgery market.”

The first episode of WLS News will air online on January 2, 2009. Bariatric Advantage will have a commercial insert, as well as sponsor-branded graphic overlays, during each weekly show.
